Home Owner Builder Tips

Aquatic Designs wants this process to be a smooth and enjoyable experience.  We know that homeowners building their own pools have lots of questions.  So with our program, we offer our knowledgeable “Tips” to help you through the Pool building process.  

• Getting pictures from magazines or flyers is good way to help communicate designs that interest you or to show sub-contractors just what you are looking for.
• Discuss and work out your budget with Aquatic Designs, before you start contacting all the sub-contractors.
• Use our Bid request fax sheet to get quotes from all the sub-contractors before you start, to ensure you are going to be inline with what was estimated for the project. 
• When you start the excavation process, ask the excavator for an estimated time of completion, so you can start lining up your next sub-contractor.
• We always recommend to our homeowners to limit their scheduling of the sub-contractors to only one or two steps ahead. 
• Two year warranties are standard in the industry on structure, plumbing and electrical, so don’t except any thing less.
• It OK to make changes to your project as long as the appropriate sub-contractors are notified in advance.
• Aquatic Designs stands behind all our sub-contractors and trust their opinions and advice. So don’t be afraid to ask them questions, if you are unclear about a phase of the project.  They will be happy to help.
• When it comes to the equipment, bigger is not necessarily better. Having the right equipment for the job will ensure its long life.
• Selecting the water line tile before you contact the tile installer and asking the installer to ensure there is stock on hand is a simple way to stay on schedule in your project.
• Don’t jump ahead in the construction phases, it could be costly or time consuming to get back on track.
